Ale and Eva were 13 when they first met at high school and became best friends. But after five years of friendship, they realised that there was something more between them. In 2006 they started going out; five years later they moved from Italy to London and after other five years they tied the knot. This is their love story...
We set rules. Our love story has always been very original. We started talking about our wedding four years ago and decided that we wanted to get married in 2016 after 10 years of being in our relationship. So we set the rules: Alessandra had to propose and Eva had to prepare a surprise on the wedding day. Alessandra proposed in Tuscany exactly one year before the wedding day in a beautiful agriturismo with a handmade album with our love story (full of memories, pictures and drawings) and, of course, a ring.
We started planning our wedding more than 15 months before the big date. At first we wanted a romantic wedding with white and green mint as colours. Then we discovered that Eva’s brother was getting married 20 days before us, so we decided to do something completely different to avoid any comparisons. We decided the theme 'Funfair', we wanted something colourful, fun, fresh and simple… Like us. We had a lot of ideas from our photographer, Paola, and from Pinterest.
We got married at the Bingham in Richmond (London). It was the first and only venue we saw, we just felt in love with it! We had approx. 65 guests for the reception and other 20 in the evening. Both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast were in the same amazing place (we wanted to have everything in one place). The weather was perfect, it rained during the lunch but then in the afternoon there was an amazing sun for the pictures. It was not too hot, which was perfect.
The food at the Bingham was delicious, we had a lot of Italian guests, so we didn’t want to let them down: it was a safe bet! We had 4 canapés each, then a veggie tart as starter, beef as main, a basil sorbet and a strawberry cheesecake. After that the wedding cake and an amazing buffet (ham, crackers, cheese…). Cakes by Robin made our incredible cake: two brides on a slide.
The day was better than what we had thought. We had both a lot of fun, surprises and things to do…
On the wedding day Eva surprised Alessandra telling her that they’d just started to sponsor a child in the Dominican Republic.
We had a couple of friends who helped us a lot with everything, so that day we didn’t have to think about anything else. We enjoyed the months before planning every single detail, the hours before the wedding, the ceremony (which was very intense and emotional), the reception and evening. We had a lot of fun and to be honest it wasn’t stressful at all… By 11pm, though, we were tired, but very happy. Now we will wait for our 25th anniversary to prepare another amazing party!
