When Suria and Paige decided to get married they both felt they wanted an intimate wedding that was classic and effortless. "I think those two words describe The Grand perfectly," said Suria, "so it was a no-brainer when we found out the hotel was licenced for wedding ceremonies - it truly met all our criteria"...
Although Suria and Paige opted for a simple, classic wedding, they decided to follow few traditions.
"We sourced everything together and very much made our own rules for the day... there was no keeping the dresses a secret, but instead we picked them together. Paige's was the first one she tried on, and it needed no alterations. Mine was the second I tried and cost £20!!"
They kept costs down by doing their own hair and keeping makeup minimal:
"Paige doesn't wear makeup so she literally only had eyelash extensions and bronzer. I had mine done by a brilliant make up artist at MAC - he looked like he was going to cry when I casually told him I was getting married in an hour, hadn't had a trial and just wanted him to do whatever he liked!"
"Highlights? The champagne, the laughter and our time together. These were the key ingredients for our dream wedding. For us the priority was to keep things simple, allowing us to be relaxed and stress free and just enjoy the day. It was everything we wanted - a seamless, perfect day.
"Looking back, there was so much to love. The ceremony itself was just so fun - all of us (registrars and photographer included) were laughing continuously!
"Wandering around The Grand with a glass of champagne and getting some pictures taken of just the two of us was really enjoyable and a highlight of our day. So many of the hotel guests went out of their way to come and say congratulations and toast us which felt really special."
Our advice for planning a wedding? Don’t over complicate things - don’t make your focus impressing your guests; make it about marrying the person you love. Oh and you've got to love a spreadsheet - it's the best way to keep track of what's been organised, and what's left to do and to keep on top of costs, it gives you peace of mind and makes you keep your spending in perspective!"
