Agnese & Gaia's Italian Wedding
Happy Thoughts
Our Unique Story
The Lowdown
How We Met
Agnese and Gaia met at work and fell in love immediately. Not long afterwards they moved in with each other and slowly, very organically, they began to realise that their story meant something more than just living together. They decided to get married. This is their story.
The Proposal
We decided to get married, because we wanted our story to be 'official'. In Italy, this is possible due to the recent law changes. We always thought that our relationship deserved more than just living together as we believe that love should be celebrated to the full and that these barriers to those of the same sex must be pulled down. Love is love, the rest does not count. We are very happy to have realised our dream.
I, Agnese, proposed to Gaia. I did it on the sofa at home. We were drinking a glass of wine and I did it. We cried for our affinity. The (Actual) Wedding
We chose to marry at La Tenuta Serradesca, because it is a location surrounded by greenery, with large fields and vineyards. It gave us the chance to repeat the ceremony under a Berber tent, which was very nice. We also felt that the quality of the food was very high and in the right quantity, at a fair price.
We got married in the morning with our close relatives and some friends at the ceremony. In the afternoon, we repeated the ceremony but with a symbolic ritual, it was very moving. We decided to talk and exchange the promises again. We talked about each other, between tears and laughter, it was very beautiful and moving. Among our guests, about 150 in all, there were some of Agnese's former team mates (she was a high-level football player and played for several years in the national team). I can say that they certainly animated the ceremony and the party! For our first dance, we choose Un Senso di Vasco Rossi. It's a very important song for us - one that we shared our first hug and first tears together. It's a song from a film that we like very much. Styling We wanted a very simple marriage, where green was the predominant colour. We were inspired by magazines and compared to the flower design of the location. The Food We chose a simple menu, with very rich appetisers. Traditional Italian chopping boards with salami and cheese, grilled meat, finger food. For our first course, we had Risotto allo Zafferano (roast lamb risotto), an 'immancabile' cocktail and prosecco during aperitifs, then a red of valsassina. To conclude, we served a rich buffet of desserts and our wedding cake. For the latter, we chose a semi-decorated cake with berries and cream. It was made by the pastry chef of the location. Our wedding day was perfect. It was the perfect day, in a wonderful place, and the rain (thankfully for us) also gave us a rainbow.Final Words
Our advice to other couples? Simplicity. Because simple things are the most beautiful. Because marriage is a special day and it is the love that is celebrated.
