Styled Shoot: Jess & Mark's Wedding

Following the death of her gay sister, Adele, Georgina Williams decided to open a bridal boutique in her memory, and organised a transgender styled shoot with Jess and Mark in her home town of Llandeilo, Wales. This is the story of how it came about and what Georgina hoped to achieve...

My sister, Adele, passed away suddenly following a massive heart attack; she was a gay woman who dressed the way she wanted to dress and sometimes faced ignorance around who she was and wanted to be as an individual and I really wanted to draw awareness through my business - Love Adele x Bridal, and through this shoot. I wanted to create something that embraced the love of two people regardless of their sexuality and show how people's lives can be enriched when you meet the right one - straight, gay, transgender, queer; when you find the one, two wonderful souls unite in their own right. I chose Jess as the bride and Mark as the groom because when we initially met they blew me away with their true personalities and their warm hearts; and after spending time with both of them I realised how they had and were struggling to fit in in society and express who they are. Jess and Mark absolutely loved the afternoon, celebrating who they are in front of the camera, and rightly so! I was overwhelmed by the experience and am now supporting Pride in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire in August by showcasing some of my bridal designs at a fashion show. I specialise in offering one-to-one transgender gown fittings and have also opened a sister company, Serenity Wedding Events Wales, which provides a full Wedding Planning Service, and I'm excited about doing more of what I love - giving that something extra special to see people - whatever their sexuality - celebrate their love and who they are through marriage!
