A celebrant is like a wedding planner for the ceremony and arranges everything from entrance to exit to ensure you will have a heartfelt ceremony to remember for the rest of your life.
Dignity Services is a member of the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants; it is run by Phil Martin and is based near Rugby in the Midlands. Its celebrants love to create custom ceremonies , hence its motto ‘Your Day Your Way', which effectively means that you can have a themed ceremony or a mix of religious and customs. Training in symbolism means many of the special features included will reflect this.
What is the difference between a Celebrant and a Registrar?
A civil marriage ceremony can be held in a Registry Office and performed by the Registrar with two witnesses. Religious content is not permitted, nor are you allowed to deviate from the script. These kinds of ceremonies can also be held in a wedding-licenced room at premises such as hotels. The Registrar will charge a fee to attend and perform the ceremony, but script deviation is still not permitted.
A celebrant, on the other hand, can perform a much more personal ceremony, tailored to reflect the relationship and feelings you and your partner share. Celebrants can perform these ceremonies in wedding-licenced premises, subject to the registrar being present. Alternatively, you can obtain your Civil Partnership licence at the Registry Office and arrange for a celebrant to hold a personally written and organised ceremony anywhere you wish. Your ceremony can be themed and include poems, songs, hymns or anything you and your partner desire.
We work with all couples, same sex, inter-religion pagan etc because we believe that everyone has the right to have a wedding service of their choice.
Our motto is 'Your Day, Your Way' and we reflect that in everything we do as celebrants.
Helping to make that special day as memorable as possible.
A Thousand Years, Christina Perri.
