Erika Tanith

Erika shot her first wedding in 2004 and has a unique reportage wedding photography style that creates beautiful images that help keep your memories as fresh as the moment you said "I do". Based in the North East of England, and happy to travel, she works with couples who want to express their personalities in their wedding; people who like to do things their own way and want their wedding be filled with fun and emotion, love and joy. Capturing all the genuine emotions of the day, there'll be no posing, no pretending for the camera (unless you specifically ask for a handful of portrait and group shots). I love the vibe on GWG, there's so much fun! I think weddings should really express the personalities of the wedding couple and GWG has a big focus on uniqueness and getting the most out of your wedding. Couples who do that have the best wedding days and that's where I like to be pointing my camera.

I try not to direct too much through a wedding. Most of what I do is documentary style photography, which is just capturing the day as it unfolds. I'll pull together a few portraits and group shots where they're requested, but my best work is taking photos of what's there. I also think that those are the pictures that couples prefer the most: the ones that show people's personalities and bring back all the great memories of the day.

I love being around people on the happiest day of their lives, when they're surrounded by the people most important to them. Everyone is their best selves and I have the great privilege to capture and preserve those moments. It makes my job very special.
